Last week's picture shows one of the two statues that flank the entrance to the Pacific Northwest Ballet and the Exhibition Hall at Seattle Center at the intersection of Mercer Street and 3rd Avenue North.

I couldn't find any information on these statues which look somewhat like lions on an LSD trip, perhaps because some bozo chalked or scratched those strange eyes on it. But they could I suppose be any number of animals, either real or fantastic. It's interesting that the one I photographed appears to protectively encircle a smaller infant version of itself with its left paw.
